         Elden H. Luffman
         LCDR USN/CHC
             (Retired)

Chaplain Elden H. Luffman first entered the US Navy in 1943.
He retired in November 1979 after 20 years active duty and 14 years reserve
duty.In 1967 he felt he was needed in Vietnam. So he put in his request for
transfer, and in September 1967 he found himself "in country". He served in
Vietnam from September 1967 to September 1968. He was often seen talking
among "his men" (when he wasn't preaching), wearing a helmet with the words
"God is with us always, especially in Vietnam" written on it. While in
Vietnam he found the time to take an assortment of pictures. Some of them
will be available for viewing in the near future. I have been very fortunate
to know Chaplain Luffman for many years. I was there when he left for Vietnam,
and I was there when he returned. I was one of the lucky ones to have him
"come home" and I Thank God every day for his safe return. While on active
duty he was an outstanding Chaplain. Now retired he's continuing his work as
an outstanding Minister. But Most Importantly, he's my Dad.

These are the ribbons my Dad is authorized to wear.
